TMI Tuesday #135 (Movember / Nourishing November)

Movember / Nourishing November

Greetings Barbarians! Long days and pleasant nights. It is now Movember, and in a few more days comes a new year. Now that things are starting to open up, I hope you are all excited about what 2022 has in store for us.

Before anything else, this week’s TMI is brought to you by my marvelous Patrons. I could not do this without them. I hope they are in exceptional condition themselves. I’d like to extend my special thanks to the following:

Now, back to our TMI!

We all have them. Some good and, well, some not so good. Think for a minute. When you were a kid, what were your holiday traditions? Do you still follow some of them today?

Christmas and the New Year are a big deal here in the Philippines. I didn’t practice a particular tradition back then. I just celebrated the holidays with family and friends. I remember spending half of my 13th month’s pay on gifts. I like giving people gifts; it is one of the few things I miss doing. I hope that my employment status improves, my contract is about to end next month.

How would you describe this stage of your life?

This question reminds me of the movie, The Pursuit of Happyness. If I were to divide my life into six phases like the film, I’d say I’m in the Internship phase. Right now, I’m at a place where I feel undervalued, and everything is difficult. It feels like it’s not getting better any time soon, so I pray for the strength to keep moving.

What is next for you?

As I told you earlier, my contract is about to end next month. I wish I could get a much stable source of income and move out. I already lost any hope of buying back the house. Now, I’m just starting to sense our impending eviction as soon as 2022 starts. All I want is to get a stable job, move somewhere and start again.

What will you do this month to nourish yourself?

It’s not much, but I bought myself some proper coffee beans last Sunday. From the tone of my writing, I’m more in survival mode these days. I wish I could focus on my well-being, but I have to focus more on saving some money for the move.

Are you participating in Movember?

Movember is a remarkable charity that is changing the way we look at men’s health. It focuses on mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. As a guy who suffered from severe anxiety attacks, I cannot express how vital having a helping hand is. Guys have difficulties expressing themselves.

Back then, some called me out for simply asking for help. It is difficult opening up to other people, and it took a lot from me. So, if I could help other men in dealing with what’s bothering them, I won’t hesitate to help. I’ll warn you that I lack the genes to grow any sort of facial hair. So, don’t expect much!

See you at the end of Movember!

Bonus: What is your motto in life?

Life happens when it happens.

Well, that’s it for our TMI this week! I hope you enjoyed it! If you have anything to add, please comment down below. I’d love to hear all about it.

  1. Mr. A, I appreciate your honest and genuine views. Your discussion about different phases our lives go through is a relevant topic. I can look back at my life and see specific ones as well.
