What Happened in April (2021)

Greetings Barbarians! Long days and pleasant nights!

A bit early for my usual month-end roundup, but today is the last Saturday of the month. I am particularly fond of this part of my blog as it allows me to talk about myself. Being a content creator means I have to be exciting, but I am far from being exciting.

I am nothing but an ordinary dad who is doing everything he can to raise his daughter and follow his dreams. Some situations may not go my way all the time, but that is just the way my heart tells me that it is scared. Being a writer is the loneliest job there is. You cannot imagine the ridicule I receive for not making much as a writer. People keep asking why I do what I do despite that. There is no describing the amount of pressure I undergo in paying the bills and making ends meet.

My only answer to them is, this is a dream.

A dream worth pursuing, and dreams do not come cheap.

April is the realization that there is so much work to do. Work that I am willing to do to reach the dream.

I do not know if you noticed, but I have been posting every day this April. I post my usual content on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Then I post Patreon content on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I am also active in my social media accounts, promoting and engaging to my readers.

I also signed up for Intellifluence, and I am looking forward to working with a brand. Intellifluence is a platform for businesses to discover influencers to promote their product. If you are a content creator looking to get paid doing reviews, you could sign up here

I am also taking up a blogging course at Udemy. I am excited to learn and see if I missed anything in my career as a blogger. I need to know more about marketing, promotions, and getting more views. I must broaden my audience and reach new heights as a content creator.

I sold my first book through Shopee. I sold a copy of 100 Deadly Skills: Survival Edition through my bookshop. I am still processing the order, and I hope it would turn out smoothly. Who knew managing a bookshop can be difficult, but it is worth it.

Now, time for reality to hit me in the face.

The house situation is getting serious. I am about to go to the bank again next week: hopefully, with something to get them off our backs. The entire ordeal already took a lot from me. I have to miss plenty of time with my daughter because I have to work. Not to sound negative, but I am preparing myself for the worst. At least, that way, I am ready for the inevitable. I have been in a constant state of distress and anxiety for so long.  But, hey, God or whoever he is, helps those who help themselves. I wish I could make it in time.

  1. I feel you, Mr. A, I really do. My family don’t support my.blog and yet my brother, who paints pictures from time to time, is all the talk of the family. It can be hard to go at it alone and to pursue your dreams, especially when the world seems so against you. At the end of the day, regardless of how successful you are, in your heart you are doing what you love. Many of those who criticise you now will be getting up next week to go to a job they hate 🙂

      1. Aww, you’re very welcome, Mr. A! Sometimes I feel like throwing in the towel, too. That’s part of life! You did the right thing though by taking some time out then getting right back to it. It shows you’re not a quitter, which is more than can be said for a lot of people 🙂
