Greetings Barbarians! Long days and pleasant nights!
Before anything else, let me wish you a Merry Christmas. I want to thank you for all the love and support you have given me throughout the years. Having the chance to write is already a blessing in itself – I cannot thank you enough for that. There is no denying that 2020 was rough, not just for me but for everyone. This pandemic proved to be more than a threat to our health. It tested our resolve, our values, and our relations.
Yet here we are, still standing despite the adversity. There are no other species out there that have the indomitable spirit of man. We may not be perfect, but through the challenges, we prevail. Thank you for your love and support but most importantly, thank you for remaining steadfast. Now, let us all rest our heads a bit more comfortable tonight and lay down our heavy hearts. We all deserve it more than ever.
With that said, I would like to extend my appreciation to a few people who made this Christmas shine a bit brighter.
To Theresaly, Summerhill, Val, and the rest of my patrons – thank you. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for valuing my work; thank you for your patience; thank you for everything. What would this blog be without you – I owe it all to you.
I know I sound like a broken record, but please subscribe to my Patreon. Writing is not simple, it may seem like we are pulling well-crafted paragraphs out of our asses, but we do not. We are trying to make a living by doing what we do best, much like everybody else. A modest $1 subscription could make all the difference for us. You could take part in my polls and get to select which content you want to see. You could also ask me questions in my monthly Q&As. I would take on requests and give you the power to choose what content you would like to see here in the blog. If you would like to help in maintaining the blog, please subscribe to my Patreon. I would appreciate it!
And do not forget to like and subscribe! It helps!
To Eris and Gina, and Mich, thank you for making Malaysia my first destination if ever I decided to travel. We go way back and thank you for wanting what is best for my daughter. You girls know very well how much she means to me. You make me happy by making her happy. She appreciates your gifts, and she looks forward to opening them. For some reason, she picked up her love for the fantastical from me – Neil Gaiman and comic books included. She intends to finish the whole 28 volumes of My Hero Academia and five books of Ms. Peregrine and The Peculiar Children series. I am wondering if she would love Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane?
To Mich, where do I even begin? You pretty much sum up my 2020. You are a friend, an Ate (Filipino word for big sister), and a mentor. I have taken off all my pretentiousness and soaked up all the lessons you have imparted me. You have a lasting impact on our lives; I will never stop listening to what you have to say – thank you. Until this day, I am still starstruck – not everyone gets a chance to be friends with an esteemed poet such as you.
To Leslie, who has been here the longest, thank you! Our relationship is not always sunshine and rainbows, but I will always be grateful for it. You will always be my reader No. 1; thank you for all the support you have given me.
(I apologize if I am dragging on, I have a lot to be thankful for this Christmas.)
To Violet, thank you for being such a wonderful friend. Thank you for having the patience to listen to me; it means a lot!
To Jowa and Charmaine, thank you for buying all my coffee! It helped a lot in buying my daughter’s gifts!
To my former colleagues, Jiorgio, Anna, Joey, Marco, Mike, Ate Phutie, Ate Sally, thank you!
To my boyhood friends, Neil, Arcadio, Carreen, Valerie, thank you! (PS. I still hold the sweetest boyhood crush on one of you).
To everybody else, thank you!
More importantly, to you, yes, you! The one reading this, thank you!
To the rest I have not mentioned, thank you! I cannot list you all but know that I hold you deep inside my heart.
I love you all! I wish you nothing but the best in life, merry Christmas!
So, what now? What are my plans for the future?
Write some more, of course! I will write until my laptop gives out. If that happens, I will buy another so that I could write again. I will write until the day you no longer wish to read what I am writing. I aspire to write great and exceptional things. I want to write about my passion, my joys, and my values. I want to write about that local illustrator I knew or the local band I am friends with. I want to write just about anything, and I want to help anybody while doing it.
I would not deny that 2020 took a lot from me. Frankly, I feel like I have aged for ten years. I wish that I could take care of myself much better next year. I want to get back to the gym, get proper food, and get a much-needed rest, maybe throw in a vacation while I am at it. It has been a while since I have slept well or got laid.
I look forward to visiting the doctor or the dentist. I want to meet up with my tailor and see how they are holding up. I wish for everything to go back to the way they used to.
Again, thank you for everything. Have yourself a merry little Christmas!
I almost forgot, please like and subscribe, drop a comment while you are at it! Also, please buy my merch! Cheers!
