Mr. A Answers a Few Questions From Patreon

Greetings Barbarians! Long days and pleasant nights!

I got a special treat for you today! In case you haven’t noticed, I make money by writing from Patreon. And if it wasn’t for the fundraiser, I’d spend my time promoting my Patreon. But what is Patreon? It is a platform for content creators to get paid every month for doing what they enjoy, creating content. To be honest, I prefer Patreon as it allows me to give something back instead of asking for donations. But we all know that we can’t put all our eggs in one basket. You’ve got to diversify your portfolio. 

Part of having a Patreon page is setting goals like reaching a certain amount or number of Patrons. My Patreon goal was to do a special collaboration with one lucky patron when I reach 10 Patrons. And whaddya know, I’ve recently got my 10th Patron! 

So, to commemorate such a milestone, I want to share with you some of our Q&A on Patreon! Who knows, it might entice you to sign up! I’d also announce the lucky Patron with whom I will collaborate with at the end of the post, so stay tuned. 

I would like to know about your favorite music and bands or groups, and what you like about them.

I love talking about music! I used to be a musician in my younger years along with friends, Niño, and Goyong. Back then, we covered the Chaos A.D. and Roots era Sepultura and a few original songs. I’m stoked that there’s a new Benediction song, it was a ripper with a traditional death metal sound. My musical taste varies, I love death metal but I outgrew the poser mentality. Now, I enjoy other forms of music like Britney and Taylor without feeling ashamed of myself. It could be a bit unnerving to see a 34 yr old man in a Dying Fetus t-shirt singing Britney’s Sometimes or Taylor’s Bad Blood. For my Favorite band, hands down would be At The Gates, I love the 90’s Swedish death metal sound. Slaughter of the Soul is my favorite album. The thing with metalheads is that we have a certain kind of loyalty to a band. It’s not like we listen to Slayer’s Reign In Blood one summer, and never again after that. Slayer released Reign in Blood the year I was born and I still listen to it until now. The albums I’ve listened to lately:

• Devouring Radiant Light by Skeletonwitch (because Skelentonwitch rules!!!)
• Permission to Land by The Darkness (I love their take on the post 80’s hair metal and Love is Only a Feeling rocks!)
• Balls Out by Steel Panther (I love satirical sleazy sex metal!)
• Back in Black by AC/DC (does this still needs any explanation)
• Clayman by In Flames (I miss the old In Flames)
• Slaughter of the Soul (of course, it’s my favorite album of all time)

What happened to your wife? 

So, about my wife. It didn’t work out. I mean, she has a new family now.

You know the story, two people falling in and out of love. The funny thing was, it was just a year of marriage before we got separated. I was still seeing her though and still fucked a few times, unknown to me that she was dating her now-husband. Gah, what’s the deal with me and post-break-up sex. It’s driving me nuts.

Now, back to the Q&A…

When did you start your blog and why?

Hmmm… after my separation, I was diagnosed with clinical depression and General Anxiety Disorder. I’ve been writing in a journal for therapy.

An ex (the one after my daughter’s mom) urged me to blog but never had anything great to write about. After we broke up, I started blogging about the things that I should have done or ways to improve what happened.

The younger me is a lot more stupid than what I have become now. So, in a way, all those heartbreaks are a blessing.

If you had the opportunity to move to a different country where would that be and why?

Funny enough, there have been talks within the family about asking my brother about migrating to Canada. I’d love to stay here in the Philippines but if an opportunity would be given to me to go there, I’d go in a heartbeat.

Do you like wearing ties? If yes, do you have any favorites?

Gah, you saw the IG photo!!! I hate wearing a necktie and that time I was applying for a teaching job and I was taking photos to send them. My favorite depends on what I’m wearing.

What kind of gentlemanly gifts do you enjoy?

I love all sorts of gifts as long as it is given with good intentions. I love getting books, fine cigars, a fountain pen, or a pocket knife.

If you were falsely accused of a crime, how would you adapt to prison life?

This could happen, not to think so is so naive. Bad things happened even to the best of people. Get as big as you can (jailhouse strong), read books about human anatomy, read Robert Greene’s The 48 Laws of Power, and Machiavelli’s The Prince. If people think civilian life is tough, they should think about prison life.
