Help Me Save My Mother’s House – 4th Week Update

Hi, it’s Arnie again! I hope you are doing well right now.

First things first, I am very pleased to tell you that I’ve now gathered 53,275 PHP from our fundraiser. Again, I can’t thank you enough for this. I’m lost for words right now. All I could think of is how blessed I am to have your support. I have said it over and over again, I am well aware that the current situation is difficult, not just for me but for everyone. But some are willing to lend out a helping hand even on a time when the world seems to be scraping to get by.

I went to the bank last Thursday to submit some papers and negotiate our terms. I wore a well-fitting white polo shirt, well-tailored navy slacks, and my pair of double monk straps. I’m determined to make an impression, despite my mother’s protest. Humility is a noble virtue but when you are trying to show the bank you have the means to pay off a debt, it pays to look the part. The last thing I want is to show them that we are irresponsible and delinquent payers.

The negotiation didn’t go as smoothly as I have hoped for but I would still consider it as a win. I was hoping we could restructure our payments but they said that three months is all they could give us. But given that there is a pandemic, they are not going to throw us out without any notification if ever it comes to that. All I could do at that moment was to take it all in and smile. Well, all is not lost. At least now, I could focus on the money instead of worrying about getting thrown out by surprise. We are still moving forward. Beggars can’t be choosers, so I’ll take that.

Again, I would like to devote a post to show my deepest gratitude for the support I received over the past weeks. I don’t know about you, but the key to happiness is appreciation, not contentment. While many of you may get tired of reading, over and over, my appreciation, that wouldn’t stop me from writing about it. Unhappy is the man who can’t appreciate what is in front of him. While things certainly are difficult, I am not the kind of man who disparages his blessings.

With that said, I would like to thank some individuals for their support. Those people who despite sorting out things of their own, never let that become an excuse not to be a good person. I’m overwhelmed by gratitude whenever I receive a notification from Patreon or Paypal. I can’t even come up with graceful words to say how much it means to us.

To Yang, you have been such a good friend to me for the longest time. In some weird way, you have always been there for me. You were always there to remind me how to be a good person even in moments when I can’t seem to get a grip on reality. I hope that someday we will have the chance to grab some coffee again. Like most women who I cross paths with, you hold a special place in my heart.

If ever you visit Olongapo City and are looking for a place to meet your Mexican food cravings, please check out Taco Bandido. They have locations both in Harbor Point Mall and SM Central. They have tacos to die for, served fresh every time! Who knows, you might get to meet Yang in person.

To Sheila, it always amazes me when people enjoy my writing, and sometimes, I feel I am not worthy of such praise. Unlike the rest, I didn’t come from an illustrious writing background. I came from a second rate college for my degree in IT. The closest thing I have to a degree in writing is a certificate from Udemy. English is not even my primary language and I haven’t gone to other places to experience other cultures. I was starstruck when I read about your credentials. I would like to thank you for appreciating my work, I look forward to our monthly Q&As!

Check out Sheila’s elegant writing where she talks about life and many other things. Also, check out her YouTube channel while you are at. Did I also mention that she is purty?

To Mrs. Wayfarer, I’m speechless right now. I’m trying to work up a sense of composure as I write this. I am not joking when I said that times are tough right now. I knew a lot of well off people who are facing the same difficulties I am facing at the moment. Yet, somehow, for some reason, that didn’t stop you in making another donation. As I’ve said in our emails, I won’t refuse any help but if ever you came across an unexpected expense, I would understand. I have asked a lot of people who said they wanted to help but never pulled through and I understand them. But you, whom I didn’t even ask decided to help not just once. The first time is already enough, so you could imagine how hard it was for me to hold back my tears as I write this. I can’t help but be overwhelmed by gratitude. Thank you.

Check out Mrs. Wayfarer’s travel blog. I already said enough reasons why you should.

I would also like to thank the rest of my friends for helping out. Maraming salamat at mahal ko kayo!

To the rest of my readers, if you couldn’t help me out right now, you could help support my friends. Visit their blogs and subscribe to their YouTube channels.

But in case you do want to help, here are the ways how:

You could subscribe to my Patreon page and get access to exclusive content you can’t get anywhere else. Take part in Q&A and polls, and you get to decide what content you want me to make. Make requests and get included in the credit section of my post. If you are not convinced, maybe this testimonial would help you change your mind.

For a barbarian in gentlemen’s clothing, Mr.A is rather accomodating to my requests. He enjoys building relationships via our one-on-one interactions and monthly Q&As. As a patron, I enjoy reading a different perspective that he delivers in response to my topic. Just when I think my suggested topic may be out of range, he’s quite thoughtful and adaptable as he ties it to his interests and experiences. I’m quite inspired by his subtle design elements and creativity. I enjoy voting in his survey polls and learning more about his creative process behind blogging. As he explores and stretches into new terrain, I look forward to seeing what else he has in store!

      1. I’m coping with my new normal. I have a chance at a completely new life, or homelessness, or just moving to a smaller suite, but I am no longer being abused on a daily basis by family members who didn’t understand how precarious my life was last month. Heart pills are part of my new normal.
