TMI Tuesday #70

Stay safe, remain vigilant! Let’s beat the living shit out of COVID-19 with the metaphorical chains and broken bottles….

Assume that in the future there will be huge leaps in human augmentation. Given a scale from completely human to completely machine, how far would you choose to augment yourself with robotics? What parts would you augment and why?

A mind that is learning and a body that never gets sick or ages. I envision nanites to repair or restore my cells allowing me to maintain my physical peak. I wanted to be stronger, jump higher, move faster and at the same time have the wisdom of the ages. I wanted to maintain an organic appearance with the nanites working on a cellular level.

In your community, are events, schools, and large gatherings forbidden or canceled due to COVID-19?

Everything is canceled… To be real, I’m scared. This is one of the few moments in life that I am actually scared. I quarantine myself because I have a cough and it is scary, I fear for my daughter and my mum. I have zero travel history, though I’ve been exposed to a lot of people every day. I hope this was just a cough and nothing more, but I don’t want to risk it. If ever this is it, I have a far better chance to survive than my mother or my daughter. I actually cried earlier when I was talking to a friend. I never want to admit that I’m scared to anyone, I despise showing weakness. However, a friend tried to check up on me and I couldn’t help myself. It is scary, but I have to be brave, we have to be brave. I’ll face COVID-19 and death like a man, not a whinny little bitch.

Has your work schedule changed due to COVID-19–i.e., onsite work changed to teleworking or shortened shifts or no work at all?

Funny enough, I went to a job interview days before the government lockdown. It was promising and I do hope I get the job or still be well after this. It was an entry-level programming job, which I qualify for, and I like the environment there. As for my schedule, yes. It has been affected , I didn’t open up shop today and enforce a strict quarantine in our household. No one goes outside the house besides me, my mother had to stay in her room. She has the highest risk in our stronghold.

What gets too much attention in the news?

The bad stuff, the ugliness of humanity. I wish they focus more on finding the cure or on how to manage it. I realized how shitty some people could get, it is our job as bloggers to use it for good and not spread ignorance. Be part of the solution, not the problem. Help those in need if you can, and if you can’t, at least be a decent person.

How do you get your news?

I minimized my use of social media and relied on official government statements and reliable media sources. As much as I hate to dismiss what is unknown, there is just no way to verify information right now. I am not the kind of man who dismisses the unknown, because that is exactly what brought us here. Yet, I now only get my information on reliable sources that can be verified.

Bonus: Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? This year how will you celebrate?

Nope, but I do want to use this part to check on my friends. I’ve been sending DMs on Twitter to some of my friends to check if they are okay. To some whom I can’t seem to get in touch with (ahem, Gemmi), please message in the comment section. Just let me know you’re okay, I know that we’re just internet friends and I couldn’t do anything for you, but my heart is with you. I know we could survive this!

  1. I am touched how you checkup on friends, you are such a sweet and caring soul. Yes do take care of my mum, like you I am really concerned about this time we are going through. We need to be very careful and follow the guidelines for hand hygiene and staying home or within our tight environment, we will get through this, let’s do it with least casualties. Don;t be too smug with your youth and health, the virus truly does not discriminate. take care my friend, you are always in my prayers.

      2. Great, it just saddens me to know a few from my community doesn’t have the slightest idea how serious this is…

      3. you need more than just a cough to have the virus, if you think you are high risk, make sure you wash your hands frequently and those around you practice the same, disinfect your surfaces and watch out for other symptoms. your cough could be a an anxiety reaction too.
many people in other communities like here are also like the ostrich with head in the sand. let’s just do our part.

  2. Oh, A…you are not alone in this. Literally the world shares your fears. I hope you find a modicum of inner-peace during this time of chaos and uncertainty. Take deep breaths…focus on positively…and keep an eye on your cough.

You are in my thoughts, as are all the TMI bloggers I’ve come to know through sharing Tuesday posts.

Thank you for reaching out to make sure all is well in my camp. I wish the same for you and your ‘stronghold’. 😊

    1. Yeah, I’ve been monitoring my cough since it started. Yes, having someone to talk to help. So thank you!

The thing about doing TMIs is that somehow it humanizes the words on the screen. Our answers make us relatable thus get to know us on a personal level. It grows on you like the way a person could. That is why I treat you all as friends even thou we haven’t seen each other.

      So, cheers B! Stay safe!

PS. I’m very emotional right now. 😅

      1. I agree about your sentiment about feeling connected to those who participate on the TMI Tues. Anytime you need to chat, you know how to reach me.

It’s okay to feel emotional. This is a serious situation. I hope we all manage to survive this crisis.

  3. You are a caring soul!
I have no fear of this disease. I am a very logical thinking type of person. I know that my chances of getting this are 1%. What I am highly concerned about is the impact this will have on the world economy.

    1. Uy mam! I’m glad that youre ok there.
Yes, to add to my worries my dad is California and my little brother is in Alberta. Sana ok lang po kayu dyan at ung inyo mga ija.

It just saddens me, mam, many of us here can’t seem to grasp this. They are much concerned about their personal interest when the situation calls for solidarity and unity. I lost respect for a lot of people because of this.

      1. I read the news and fb posts and i am really saddened by how some of us back home reacts. Cant they just at least follow, obey?

Imagine from where i am right now there is a total lock down too with no movements at all but not even a single citizen complained.

You keep safe in there especially with your little one.

I am not a political writer or an activist for that matter but i have been itching write one and adress our people back home cos it really angered me.

I am just glad to read a different perspective from you..

  5. Lying in bed reading your post I actually squirmed when I read my name!!!!!
I am sorry to make you worry. Honestly I never think anyone worries about me. That is a me thing not a you thing.
I am a scientist by training. I am also a strong pragmatist. If I get Covid19 I don’t believe I will be in the 3% or so who die or the larger percentage who suffer permanent illness.
We are fortunate in our ‘stronghold’ we have space around us and this means we are more isolated naturally. My 83 mother in law has had a lot of health problems lately but she has had some great news about her health yesterday so I am reasonably confident for her.
For those who are affected. Stay positive! There will be life after Covid-19
