What Happened in December

Greetings Barbarians! Long days and pleasant nights!

A few more hours before 2020 and I already couldn’t contain my excitement. I can’t wait for what is in store for me for this coming year. I could say that I learned a lot over the span of 12 months. Despite the setbacks, I get to try a lot of things this 2019 and I consider myself lucky having you with me in my journeys.

Before we continue, please make sure to like this post. Your continued support has helped me a lot in maintaining this blog. If you have any requests or opinions, you may comment down below. I always enjoy answering your comments whenever I have free time to do so.

I started the month doing renovations to the barbarian stronghold. We applied fresh paint and fix what needs to be fixed around the stronghold. We have to arrange our sleep for a few days but it was all worth it. I get to paint my room a nice shade of blue, though I’d still prefer a shade of pink but blue is great.

Still moving boxes…

School Christmas parties are kind of a big deal for me and my kid. It was a chance to celebrate the friendships made over the years. I enjoy giving out gifts and instill the spirit of giving to my daughter. This year, I gave a copy of Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl to one of the parents that I have made friends with.

I didn’t buy anything for my kid this Christmas except for that white sneakers she wanted. I really can’t blame her, it is always nice to have a pair of clean white sneakers.

The kid has great taste. Great taste doesn’t necessary mean expensive taste.

As I said, I haven’t bought anything for us this Christmas. To reduce our clutter, I took some of our clothes to the tailor to have it altered. I took a bad fitting denim shirt and a pink romper my daughter got from her birthday and let the tailor work its magic.

I also took a pair of boots to the cobbler to get the outsole stitched. I’m quite surprised at how well the stitching was, he also managed to stitch together the heel to the outsole. A definite thumbs-up, given the price point.

Stomper boots, great for thrashing and moshing

I just had bulalo a few weeks ago and it was sublime. In case you haven’t tried Filipino cuisine, bulalo is a light-colored soup made from beef shanks and marrows. Bulalo is cooked for a very long time until the collagen and fat melts into the broth. Usually served with cabbage, corn, and potatoes, and eaten along with rice. The highlight of the dish is the succulent marrow that truly is god’s butter.

God’s butter

Also, Pancake came over to spend the weekend, which I could say the highlight of the month. We had tons of fun together, we went on a date at a local Japanese resto and had udon and rolls. After that, we got coffee and spend time talking in the hotel room balcony.

I love udon!!!

We also got the chance to exchange some gifts which I loved. Pancake got me a copy of Alan Moore’s Watchmen as well as Neil Gaiman’s American Gods. She got my daughter a nice Hello Kitty bath towel and a copy of Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time. Of course, I got her a copy of Paolo Coelho’s The Spy and a vacuum tumbler and a nice burnt orange cami. I like the fact that we still get to celebrate moments like this and the fact that she has my daughter in mind. Like I always say, my daughter will always be my top priority and it was nice that Pancake understands that. I always keep a simple guide when it comes to my relationships and that is I always choose a woman who chooses me.

I have been trying to get my hands on these two for some time, thanks Pancake!
Still haven’t seen the movie though.

October may be a handful and November might suck but December is something that I am grateful for. It was the culmination of a year’s worth of work and commitment. Sure, some days are not as good as the others but life is worth living nonetheless.

So there you have it, a month’s worth of experience in the life of your favorite barbarian. I want to thank you all for another year of great blogging. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you all good health and more manliness for the upcoming year. Happy New Year to everyone, I love you all!

    1. Hi Gina! Happy New Year to you and your kids too!
I’ve been trying to get hold of those books for a long time. My eyes just lit up as I unwrap the gift!

      1. books make me the happiest, glad you are passing on a good habit to her.

i saw there’s this border you can paste along walls for kids to colour in, looks neat and keeps them away from the rest of the painted surface, check it out.
