TMI Tuesday #38

And we’re back! Last week was tough….

  1. When you post on your blog, what is your main goal?

To inform or tell a story. I’m not an expert on anything, and in no way claim that I am. I just express my opinions on certain subjects that interest me, as well as my experience with it.

I do focus on elegance and comprehension in my writing, despite some grammatical errors, spelling, etc.

  • What are some questions your blog readers should be asking you, but they are not?

I do love it when someone asked me about my day or anything that is within the topic. The tone is everything, so mind the tone. It makes a well-mannered question sound brash and judgmental. Last time, I encountered a blogger who asked me not to follow his photography site because I am not a “genuine” follower and that nothing in my blog would say so – that I am just marketing my blog. Long story short, it feels like he was pissed. So, I replied in a very respectful manner and did not mind it afterward.

PS. I am interested to learn photography as stated in my 100 things about me, #65 to be exact.

  • What is a great blog post that you have read lately (leave a link in your TMI post)?

Eris Elaborates: Can You Really Earn Money From Blogging? – For someone considering the jump into monetizing their blog. This post is fun and insightful. (https://erisgoesto.com/2018/03/05/eris-elaborates-can-you-really-earn-money-from-blogging/)

  • How long have you been blogging?

1 year and 2 months.

  • Considering your current blog, what are the top two most popular posts you have written? (post links to each in your TMI post).

That would be my anniversary post, “Year One” (https://barbariangentlemen.wordpress.com/2019/04/11/year-one/)

  1. How was your day today? Did you do something different or totally weird? (Me being politely inquisitive?!!…LOL). You don’t just have elegance you have grace and that is sorely lacking these days. Your posts are a delight to read, i learn something new each time and your views, are your own and I am glad you share them honestly.

    1. Hi Gina! Today was great! Its the 2nd day of school. Yesterday, my daughter have some separation anxiety. Today, she got so excited when she saw her bestie and totally forgot about me…

As for the elegance and grace, thank you very much. I still can’t believe that I could be describe like that.

I try to share as much experience as I could, maybe somebody else got it much better. Maybe I could help someone with this. I guess as much as I wanted to express myself, I also wanted to somehow help. =)

  2. Yay Happy Tuesday! This is fun and informative. Nice share from Eris too.
Hope you are having a great day/evening. Have you had your bacon?

You are most certainly helping by being here and sharing your experience…in many ways :).

    1. Happy tuesday! Yeah the article is fun, and actually I’ve been thinking of making the jump.
It’s 10 in the evening here in the Philippines and yes I did have my daily serving of bacon earlier!

      1. Well then, I hope for you great success! If you can turn your passion into income? Why not? For sure something to think about! Even if it just pays for the WordPress costs.
7:30am here pacific time. Thinking about bacon.
Lately we’ve been hooked on baked oysters with bacon, cheese and fresh herbs. Barbarians have to eat. 🙂

      3. No need to be sorry. The body can’t live forever. He was ready. 🙏🏻

But death is difficult to grasp with. You know very well how death affects us all. How is your aunt? How are you coping? Oh wow—I’m really checking my ‘tone’ here…see how you are affecting me???

I am regrouping as well, the dust are starting to settle. Been busy actually, its back to school for my kid. 😅

      5. Something that affects us all. The natural process of life and death. Sadness is real…hmmm…this inspires in me a poem…
But life does go on and for your daughter—such an exciting time back to school!
…and you are welcome and thank you too.

      6. It’s been stirring around in my head for a while—thoughts of life and death—but writing doesn’t come so easily for me. Like trying to catch a butterfly….I have to wait for it to come to me.

    1. Yes, I was snooping around and saw that. It’s really fun!

Hmmm. If I may add, one should not just rely on the ad revenue alone. Depending on what kind of blog you have, one could sell merch or do exclusive content and etc.

I think blogging as a career is a tough one. Being a good writer alone is not enough, one must also be charismatic as well as other social skills and ingenuity. It requires a lot of determination. 😅

      1. It definitely is ! The problem is that blogs are a dime a dozen out there now. It’s a lot about luck, branding and the ability to market yourself, because there are tonnes of blogs offering good content that don’t get the recognition they deserve. Branding takes a lot of work, so if one isn’t fully invested it can be difficult to juggle that and their full time job (if they have one).

  3. Hi there! Honestly, when I read your posts that are written so graciously, I feel like I should be wearing a formal dress or something instead of my pjs 😂
I love reading your opinions about outfits! I feel like everyone these days are wearing jeans with ‘fashionable’ *cough* holes and them and they are way too lowered (too much information and imagery?) 😂

I love the way you show respect to your readers and take the time to sincerely reply to each and every one of them. In the end, I love your blog and your posts and how your personality shines within them!

P.S Do you wear your sock, then your shoe, then other sock, then shoe? 😂

    1. Hi Nour! Thank you for that!
Hmmm as long as it fits great, I think is ok.
Personally, I not fond of heavily distressed jeans. Just a little bit of distressing would be nice in dark wash jeans. As for the waistline, I think any respectable man should own at least 3 nice belts, a canvas belt for ultra casual, a brown belt for office casual, and a black belt for formal wear.

For your question, i put on my socks first on both feet before i put on any shoes.

So, i hope my answers suffice and cheers to you! 🍸

    1. Thank you! On days that I’m having writer’s block, usually set first my intent and my audience. That fixes the problem most of the time, as it establishes what to say and how to say it.
      Hope that helps, cheers! 🍸
